Drink driving
If you drive or attempt to drive or are in charge of a motor vehicle on the public highway or where public have access whilst under the influence of drink or drugs and you exceed; 35 Milligrammes of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Breath; or 80 Milligrammes of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood; or 107 Milligrammes of Alcohol in 100 Mililitres of Urine or have drugs in your system which makes you 'unfit' to drive you will receive a minimum 12 months disqualification, fine up to £5000 and up to 6 months imprisonment. If in charge of the vehicle then a fine of £2500 max or up to 3 months imprisonment or 10 points if no ban.
Speeding
On a public road; if you exceed 30mph a fine up to £1000 (3 - 6 penalty points) discretionary ban. May order re-test - must endorse your licence unless special reasons exist.
Insurance
Fine up to £5000 (6 - 8 penalty points) discretionary ban. May order re-test - must endorse your licence unless special reasons exist.
Drive Without Due Care and Attention
£2500 fine max, 3 - 9 points can disqualify or you will need to take a re-test.
Fail to Stop or Report after an Accident
£5000 maximum fine. Up to 6 months imprisonment. Can disqualify you or have to take a re-test. 5 - 10 Points.
Disqualified Driving
6 months imprisonment, fine up to £5000, 6 points discretion to disqualify (no maximum period) may need a re-test.
No Licence
3 - 6 points, up to £1000 fine and may disqualify.
Newly Qualified Drivers
If you have held a licence for over 2 years and 6 points are placed on your licence, your licence will be revoked by the DVLA and you will have to take your test all over again.
12 Points (totting up)
If you receive 12 points within 3 years you must be disqualified for a maximum of 6 months unless you can convince the court that exceptional hardship exists.
Failing to Furnish 5172 Notices
Comes up to 6 points after 24/09/02 and max £2500 fine.
